Artist Canal Cheong Jagerroos
Artist Canal Cheong Jagerroos views the space “in between” not as empty, but as a place where new possibilities can form. She recalls a chance encounter in Guangzhou 37 years ago during a small tea gathering. That meeting led her to Johan from Finland, which evolved into a long marriage and a shared creative life.
A life lived across cultures continues to shape her artistic approach. Through projects such as the Blue and Red Project and her ongoing Floating Island series, she works to create points of connection and invites viewers to complete the meaning of the work through their own engagement.
She encourages us to notice the quiet, unplanned moments that can redirect the course of a life. For her, these “interstices” are not gaps. They are openings. They are the places where new relationships and new directions begin.
