Ronewa Art Projects presents The Sacred Study of Becoming, an online solo exhibition featuring ten artworks by Nigerian American artist and scholar Dr. Imo Nse Imeh.
The Sacred Study of Becoming brings together ten artworks created between 2019 and 2024. In these works, Dr. Imeh combines precise figurative drawing with fluid applications of paint, ink, and mixed media. He positions the human figure within shifting environments that suggest reflection, transition, and emotional focus. His work addresses themes of spirituality, cultural identity, memory, and the experiences of Black communities.
Many of the artworks present figures in moments of transition or focused reflection, situated within environments of color, ink, and line that move between representation and abstraction. Some compositions position rising or suspended forms within the picture plane, while others use defined marks and layered surfaces to signal shifts in light and spatial depth. Through this interplay of figurative structure and abstract atmosphere, Dr. Imeh investigates how the body communicates memory, cultural identity, and spiritual reflection. He uses drawing, color, and layered materials to study how lived experience and personal belief shape emotional and physical presence.
The Sacred Study of Becoming marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship between Ronewa Art Projects and Dr. Imeh. The exhibition places his practice before a global audience and extends the Gallery’s work with artists engaged in rigorous cultural and artistic inquiry.
