Kunsthaus Interlaken — December 10, 2023 - January 28, 2024

At this year‘s Cantonale Berne Jura, over 450 artists applied for an exhibition space in one of the eleven institutions jointly organizing this exhibition. For Kunsthaus Interlaken, curators Heinz Häsler and Martin Otth selected works from 23 artists, creating spaces with different moods. Harmony and disso- nance are essential intentions of this presentation, along with the visible dominance of painting and drawing. The range of works encompasses almost all known painterly and graphic forms of expression and styles. Established art historical terms like Expressionism, abstract Expressionism, Surrea- lism, Constructivism, etc., easily apply to many of the works exhibited at Kunsthaus. Nevertheless, these visibly differ from the known classical works of past days, testifying to the cons- tant search of artists for new, zeitgeist-speaking forms and content.
